Aquí quiero ensayar una idea que vengo trabajando en las clases de Tecnologías de Información, con los alumnos de periodismo de la Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya. Es la hipótesis de McLuhan, para quien la tecnología no es otra cosa que una amplificación o extensión de las capacidades biológicas del ser humano.

Pero, como toda nueva tecnología, la web no ha gozado de una bienvenida feliz. No han faltado voces que la condenen y la estigmaticen como un instrumento contra el aprendizaje, el desarrollo de la memoria y la capacidad de análisis. De acuerdo con esta perspectiva, los alumnos piensan menos y escriben peor por culpa de internet. Pero ¿realmente es así?
